What are the characteristics to consider when choosing a coating?

Many parameters come into play when applying a metal coating. We explain:
01

Applications

First, you need to determine its main application: what property do you want to add or improve?
Conductor
A conductive material has a low resistivity, so the electric current flows through it more easily. Heat dissipation is also faster.
Anti-corrosion
Our electrolytic coatings provide superior resistance to corrosion for your parts. They effectively protect them against damage caused by aggressive environments.
Decorative
Sometimes, especially in the fashion, design and luxury sectors, the coating is chosen for purely aesthetic purposes.
Brazable
In the energy transmission sector, components are often welded. It is important that the coating is compatible with this type of process.
Biocompatible
The biocompatible materials have been evaluated as having no harmful effects on the human body (cancerigen, allergen...)

Constraints

What are the requirements for your parts?
Deformation
If your part is subject to deformations (plastic or elastic), it is important that your coating resists them. For example, a crimped part is subject to deformation.
Choose a ductile coating
Abrasion
If your part is likely to be worn, for example handles or leather goods buttons, the coating must be able to withstand repeated rubbing.
Choose a high hardness coating and increase its thickness
Oxydation
If the environment in which your part evolves is likely to oxidize it: humid atmosphere, saline environment...
Choose a corrosion-resistant coating

Enhance your parts with GILOR coatings
